CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Today, the West Virginia Faith & Freedom Coalition (WVFFC) released a statement highlighting the success of the WVFFC’s “Protecting Our Children” Summit held in Charleston last week. The Summit brought together over a hundred public officials, law enforcement officers, religious leaders, educators, political candidates, and concerned West Virginians with the mission of training, educating, and raising awareness about the sinister human trafficking industry and its status in West Virginia.

Several leaders attended and spoke at the event, including former U.S. Attorney and WV State Senator Mike Stuart, Delegate Brandon Steele, representatives from the offices of the Secretary of State and U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito, businessman and WVFFC founder Chris Miller, and more.

The summit featured presentations and training by anti-human trafficking group The Foundation United based out of Florida. The CEO of the organization Elizabeth Good addressed religious leaders and trainers Alan Wilkett and Anne Basham gave presentations to public officials and law enforcement on best practices for both policy and training curriculum.

“Human trafficking exists - and is growing - in West Virginia and this summit was the first step in our mission to give the issue the attention and priority that is deserves. We will continue raising awareness of the exploitation of children and women and advocate for policies that are proven to combat and reduce the horrors of human trafficking. Many thanks to those who participated and joined us for the summit and demonstrated their commitment to this issue,” said Executive Director Curtis Workman. “The 2024 legislative session will be one of action.”
